As a leader in medical education, Taylor is dedicated to advancing interprofessional learning at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and throughout the region. She serves as program director of UNMC’s Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship and oversees pediatric nephrology education for UNMC residents and medical students. Passionate about teaching all aspects of kidney disease and its management, she is especially committed to patient and family education and leads the development of educational materials used throughout pediatric nephrology clinics.
Taylor also serves as medical director of UNMC’s Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program. Through her leadership and participation in national quality improvement collaboratives, she has helped develop innovative systems of care designed to improve health outcomes for pediatric transplant recipients. She is the principal investigator for the Improving Renal Outcomes Collaborative (IROC) and actively partners with patients and families to advance health, longevity and quality of life for children with kidney disease.
A particular area of interest for Taylor is the care of adolescents and young adults with chronic kidney disease and kidney transplants. She leads transition-to-adult-care programs that support young people as they move from pediatric to adult health care systems, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to successfully manage their health throughout adulthood.
