Certificate Programs

Certificate programs are important parts of your postdoctoral training, as they help you develop and demonstrate tangible skills outside of the laboratory.

These programs are entirely optional and are designed to not interfere with your laboratory work. You will have the entirety of your postdoctoral career at UNMC to earn each certificate.

As a postdoc, you will automatically be enrolled in the certificate courses when you begin your training at UNMC. All the modules for each certificate are located in Canvas.

Certificate in Scientific Communications

The Certificate in Scientific Communications is designed to help increase your scholarly output. Through the training, you will create products for an idea or thesis across three media (written, presentation, digital). It also introduces you to some of the scholarly resources available at UNMC and other research institutions.

Certificate in Teaching and Education

This certificate is designed to help you develop teaching skills. There are three parts to the training:

  1. Learn the fundamentals of digital teaching to help develop the knowledge and skills in course design and teaching that is necessary to teach in the online (and traditional) environment effectively.
  2. Participate in a Metropolitan Community College teaching fellowship.
  3. Create an educational product based on your research (such as a recorded lecture, Canvas module, etc.).
