The Postdoctoral Research Associate position is intended for additional training after you receive your doctorate degree. It is a full-time position that typically lasts from 1 - 4 years.
Salary
Pay at UNMC is commensurate with experience and qualifications and is based on UNMC's budget and salary guidelines, as determined by the university's president. The minimum salary for any postdoctoral employee is $52,881.
Within available funds, competitiveness or merit increases may be given to recognize specific areas of performance and/or marketplace factors. Performance shall be judged on the basis of productivity, effectiveness, and overall value and contribution to the unit and the university.
Benefits
Postdoctoral Research Associates working full-time 50% or more are eligible for a variety of benefits.
Postdoctoral Research Fellows
Postdoctoral Research Fellows working full-time at 50% or greater are eligible to enroll in the UNMC medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Training & Certifications
We offer regular professional development seminars and certificate programs to help our postdocs build skills they can use inside and outside the lab.
Contract Information
Our goal is to help you complete your training and transition to your full-time career in a timely manner. That is why our postdoc positions last from 1 – 4 years, with an accelerated evaluation period (first 6 months) followed by annual evaluations with mentors.
In case of personal and family emergency/exigency proven to have significantly disrupted the training, the postdoctoral training or for availing awarded external grants, including F32 and K99, can be extended by final one year with approval of the vice chancellor of academic affairs, upon written request by both the postdoctoral scholar and mentor.
Postdocs must complete four mandatory programs in their first year, Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research (RCR) Training, CITI Training, the Individual Development Plan (IDP) and the Mentoring Workshop offered by the Postdoctoral Education office.
The web-based CITI Training and IDP must be completed to be eligible for attending the one day (eight hours) in-person RCR training workshop, which is usually offered in November or December every year.
