Daniel Gih

Dr. Gih (he/him/his) is a Professor and Director of Education in the UNMC Department of Psychiatry and works clinically in the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic. He is the founding program director of the UNMC psychiatry residency program. He completed his medical education at the University of Iowa and trained at the University of Michigan for his general residency and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. While on the faculty at Michigan, he co-founded and directed the University of Michigan Comprehensive Eating Disorder Program, the state's only academic partial hospitalization program for children and young adults with eating disorders.

His clinical interests include medical education, severe mood disorders in adolescents, electroconvulsive therapy, and eating disorders. Dr. Gih holds adjunct faculty positions at the University of Michigan and Creighton University. He is a member of the Association for Academic Psychiatry and the American Association for Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training (AADPRT). Dr. Gih was the 2019-2021 President of the Regional Organization of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Nebraska's state chapter of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.) Dr. Gih achieved distinguished fellow status for the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
