Melissa O'Dell, MD
Assistant Professor, UNMC Department of Psychiatry

Dr. O'Dell is an advocate for improving the care of people living with psychotic disorders, whose experiences as a community support worker and family member led her to become a psychiatrist and ardent medical educator. Dr. O'Dell founded and directs the multidisciplinary ASPIRE clinic at Nebraska Medicine, which offers patient-centered, recovery-oriented, integrated care to people with psychosis. She is a champion for ambitious psychotherapy and family-oriented care in treating adults with mental illness, and has created a psychotherapy for psychosis training program and a family therapy service line in the ASPIRE clinic.
Dr. O'Dell is board certified in Community and Public Psychiatry and an active member of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the Nebraska Psychiatric Society (NPS). She serves NPS as Representative to the APA Assembly.
