Stephen Salzbrenner, MD
Assistant Professor, UNMC Department of Psychiatry
Dr. Salzbrenner was born in Omaha. He earned his bachelor's degree from Marquette University, attended Creighton Medical School, did his post-graduate training at Naval Medical Center San Diego and Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia. He spent some time working as a psychiatrist in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom (2005-2006). After leaving the Navy in 2009, he has worked in inpatient and outpatient settings.
After spending a couple years in private practice he returned to academic medicine, which was where he felt most at home. He enjoys using the latest technology, such as pharmacogenetic testing to assist with choosing the best treatment regimen.
When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time with his two children, fishing and training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
