Welcome to the Department of Genetics, Cell Biology and  Anatomy. The mission of the department is to help train outstanding physicians and scientists in medical and graduate education, and to prepare future leaders in biomedicine. With its unique strengths in genetics and cell biology, the department of genetics, cell biology and anatomy, has been continuously exercising to increase the size of stature of research faculty and increase our expertise in the areas of genomics, bioinformatics and cutting edge areas of genetics, cell biology and anatomy. The department currently have 20 full time faculty, 3 part time faculty and 25 administrative and support staff continuously working in a state of the art research facility to excel in education and research.

The department serves the community by providing excellent education in medicine and various allied health programs, and in basic and translational sciences. The department currently administers four centers and cores equipped with state of the art resources designed to provide outstanding services for UNMC researchers and the medical community of the state.
