Biomedical informatics expertise is key to all types of translational research, including integration and sharing of large and/or confidential data sets from disparate systems and investigators, and collaborating over distance, as is often required to address rural health disparities. Biomedical informatics expertise is embedded in almost all of UNMC‘s colleges, departments, and institutes, and includes active collaborators in the University of Nebraska-Omaha College of Information Science and Technology, which led to the development of a joint biomedical informatics graduate program.
The UNMC Research Information Technology Office (RITO) is available to assist investigators in determining the appropriate level of data storage and security for their research projects and offers data storage solutions to address those needs.
