Nebraska's emergency medical services operate through a statewide network of local agencies, regional systems, and specialized programs that ensure rapid response and high-quality prehospital care across urban and rural communities. These services integrate advanced training, telehealth initiatives, and community paramedicine programs to improve access, reduce disparities, and enhance patient outcomes throughout the state.

Nebraska Medical Center 

The site is home to a state-of-the-art simulation center and one of the nation’s largest biocontainment health care facilities. It is a large volume, hospital-based clinic and clinics are site-specialty-based. The faculty also have primary offices here.

Children’s Nebraska

 Children's Nebraska, located in Omaha, is the state's only free-standing pediatric hospital and a nationally ranked center offering comprehensive care through more than 50 specialty clinics, including cardiology, oncology, and neonatal intensive care. It serves as Nebraska's first Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and provides advanced emergency medicine, behavioral health services, and critical care for children across the region.

Omaha Fire Department

 The Omaha Fire Department operates 24 fire stations across the city and employs over 660 personnel to provide comprehensive fire suppression, emergency medical services, and specialized rescue operations. Its mission focuses on protecting lives, property, and the environment through perpetration, prevention, and rapid response, while emphasizing integrity, professionalism, and community engagement. The annual call volume is approximately 65,000 with about 55,700 of those being EMS related.

Bellevue Fire Department

Bellevue Fire operates nine fire stations and maintains a minimum of 48 fire suppression personnel on duty at all times, providing fire protection and emergency medical services to the community. It mission emphasizes excellence through training, education, and community outreach, ensuring safety and preparedness for residents and visitors alike.The annual call volume is approximately 5,000 runs per year; making it the second highest volume in the area.

Sarpy Tactical Medical Team

 The Sarpy Tactical Medical Team (STacMed) is a specialized unit that partners with law enforcement and fire agencies to deliver Tactical Emergency Medical Services during high-risk incidents, including active shooter and hostage situations. Comprised of physicians, paramedics, and dual-trained officers, the team provides life-saving care in dangerous environments while maintaining rigorous training in tactical medicine and combat casualty care.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue

Lincoln Fire & Rescue is a full-time, urban dual-role department providing fire suppression, emergency medical services, and rescue operations. Operating 14 stations the department responds to more than 78,000 calls annually- including over 34,000 EMS incidents. Lincoln Fire & Rescue also sponsors Nebraska Task Force 1 for specialized urban search and rescue missions.

Sarpy County Dispatch Center

The Sarpy County Emergency Communications Center operates 24/7 as the county's Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), handling all 911 and non-emergent calls for law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies. Staffed by certified emergency telecommunications, the center uses advanced computer-aided dispatch systems and emergency medical protocols to coordinate rapid, life-saving responses across Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista, Gretna, Springfield, and surrounding areas.

Cass County Emergency Management

Cass County Emergency Management (EMA) coordinates disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts for the county, operating from its Emergency Operations Center. The agency services as a liaison between local jurisdictions and state and federal partners, manages warning systems, hazardous materials planning, and public education, and provides training for severe storm spotters and emergency responders.

Air Method’s Lifenet

LifeNet of the Heartland, operated by Air Methods, provides critical air medical transport services across Nebraska, with bases in Omaha, Norfolk, and Columbus ensuring rapid response for trauma and emergency care. Their highly trained crews deliver advance interventions such as blood product administration, ventilator management, and cardiac monitoring, supporting hospitals and EMS agencies throughout the region for over 40 years.
