Joshua M. Laurila, DO

Assistant Professor, Division of Hospital Medicine

Dr. Laurila is a hospitalist at Nebraska Medicine. This means he takes care of patients in the inpatient (not clinic/outpatient) setting. You may run across him in the surgical pre-op clinic, but otherwise, his passion and practice are all hospital-based.

He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Laurila attended medical school at Des Moines University in Iowa. While there he met his wife, Mackenzie, who is now a Pediatric Anesthesiologist at Children's Nebraska in Omaha. He completed his residency with the Family Medicine program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and has been practicing as a hospitalist since that time.

Dr. Laurila's philosophy of care revolves around meeting his patients where they are at. He tries to break down complicated, overwhelming discussions to be understandable and also believes that one size may NOT fit all when it comes to medications and disease management.
