Joshua M. Laurila, DO

Assistant Professor, UNMC Division of General Internal Medicine
Assistant Professor, UNMC Division of Hospital Medicine

Dr. Josh Laurila is a hybrid provider at Nebraska Medicine. This means he takes care of patients both at the Eagle Run clinic as a primary care provider as well as in the hospital. This allows him to practice the broad scope of medicine he enjoys.  You may also run across him in the surgical pre-op clinic.

He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended medical school at Des Moines University in Iowa. While there he met his wife, Mackenzie, who is now a Pediatric Anesthesiologist at Boys Town in Omaha. He has three children. He completed his residency with the Family Medicine program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and practiced as a hospitalist here at Nebraska Medicine for five years before returning to clinic in a hybrid role in 2025.

Dr. Laurila's philosophy of care revolves around meeting his patients where they are at in that moment in time. He enjoys to practice in a relaxed, laid back manner and tries to break down complicated, overwhelming topics to be understandable and also believes that one size may not fit all when it comes to medication and disease management.
