Transplant Optimization Clinic
Our goal in the Transplant Optimization Clinic, located on the fourth floor of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, is to prevent or reduce some of the side effects common with transplant. These include:
- loss of muscle strength
- fatigue
- reduced daily activities like showering, dressing, cooking, paying bills
- reduced leisure activities like reading, sewing, gardening, golfing, etc.
- trouble with thinking and memory (“chemo brain”)
- emotional upset like anxiety or depression
- nutritional difficulties
We hope to strengthen your overall health so you can tolerate cancer treatments and transplant from the strongest place possible. We make recommendations to improve any areas of difficulty so that you are approaching and recovering from transplant to the best of your ability. We work with you and your caregiver to plan steps that help your wellbeing.
