Attendance for the third NeVRNER annual meeting was record high

Our third annual meeting had a record high attendance in August 2019. More than 40 faculty, students from all four NU campuses and members from our community and local industry came to learn about VR education and research projects. We have presenters from UNMC Davis Global Center, UNL Johnny Carson Center, to Stanford University.

Here are some highlights at the meeting:

Mr. Michael Hollins, Director of Community & Business Engagement, iEXCEL gave a Keynote presentation about the Davis Global Center and the iEXCEL program.
Dr. Brian Ricks from UNO gave a presentation about steppingstones into a medical simulation.
Tess McKinney from UNMC talked about 360 photo tours and interactive tools for student services & beyond.
Megan Elliott, the founding director of the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts at UNL gave the second Keynote remotely about the Johnny Carson Center.
Rebecca Swanson from Nebraska Medicine presented her research on creating a virtual reality experience for children undergoing radiation therapy and MRI.
Zachary Benton-Slocum from UNMC iEXEL talked about the “Freedom to Fail: A look at gamification and higher education”.
Dr. Jeremy Bailenson (joined us remotely), Director of the Human Interaction Lab at Stanford University and Ron Rheinheimer, Executive Vice President of zSpace, presented the final Keynote to share the experience of using virtual reality in research and education.
