Leadership in Medical Education
Dr. Sydney Randall is an assistant professor with the UNMC Dept. Of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Randall plays a key leadership role as the Essentials in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery coordinator, introducing and monitoring OB-GYN residents’ progress through the EMIGS curriculum, instructing hands-on simulation sessions to prepare residents for the EMIGS skills exam.

Teaching is central to Dr. Randall’s academic mission. Dr. Randall provides didactic training, lectures, and hands-on simulations for both medical students and residents, covering a wide range of topics in obstetrics and gynecology. As a certified Nexplanon trainer, Dr. Randall instructs the annual Nexplanon insertion course for new hires and residents. She has delivered lectures on subjects such as cervical dysplasia, ERAS protocol, intraoperative complications, and ultrasound imaging. Dr. Randall’s commitment to education is further demonstrated by developing and presenting educational content at conferences and grand rounds.
Dr. Randall has contributed to research and quality improvement in women’s health. Projects include a quality improvement initiative on improving ankyloglossia identification and management to enhance breastfeeding outcomes. Dr. Randall has also authored patient education articles for Nebraska Medicine’s Advancing Health, addressing topics such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, pelvic pain, and hormone differences.
Dr. Randall is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, reflecting a commitment to academic excellence and professional achievement. Dr. Randall is also certified by the Nebraska State Medical Board, is a Nexplanon Trainer, and holds certifications in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program and Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery.
