Leadership in Medical Education

Dr. Rebecca Rimsza is an assistant professor at the UNMC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Since July 2025, Dr. Rimsza has served as Medical Director of Labor and Delivery, overseeing the care and management of hospitalized, laboring, and postpartum patients. In this leadership role, Dr. Rimsza participates in quality improvement initiatives, serves on the Nebraska Medicine Quality Triad Council for Women’s & Infants, and is a member of the Severe Maternal Morbidity Review Committee. Dr. Rimsza is also involved in the Nebraska Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative Obstetric Hemorrhage Steering Committee and is a participant in the ILEAD program at UNMC (2025–2026), reflecting a commitment to advancing clinical care and educational excellence.

Dr. Rimsza is dedicated to medical education, providing direct clinical teaching through daily rounds on the inpatient MFM service and supervision of residents in the high-risk obstetric clinic. Dr. Rimsza leads ultrasound simulation sessions for both medical students and OB-GYN residents, and developed the “Ultrasound Bootcamp” for fourth-year medical students entering obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Rimsza also serves as faculty sponsor for the OB-GYN residents’ journal club and participates in weekly diagnostic ultrasound conferences. These efforts ensure that learners receive hands-on, high-quality training in both clinical and classroom settings.

Dr. Rimsza is actively engaged in research focused on hypertension in pregnancy, labor management, and patient education. Ongoing research projects are centered on postpartum hypertension, patient education, and labor management. Dr. Rimsza’s research has been published in leading journals such as the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Journal of Perinatology. Dr. Rimsza has presented research at national meetings such as the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine and the Central Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.  

Dr. Rimsza has received numerous honors, including Outstanding Intern at Saint Louis University, the Kranz Memorial Paper Award, Best Case Report at the Annual Resident Research Symposium, and recognition as Physician of the Month. Dr. Rimsza is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and has been selected for the UNMC ILEAD leadership development program.
