Preceptor Email Updates

With guidance from the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, deans, and other senior leaders, UNMC is working to improve our engagement with you and others that serve as Faculty Volunteers. These improvements will ensure your access to the benefits and resources available for your partnership in service to our students and institution.

As Faculty Volunteers, you will have access to the systems you need to succeed:

  • Access to UNMC Library services and subscriptions
  • Email account in the following format: @volunteer.unmc.edu
  • If required to perform duties as a volunteer faculty, badge access to buildings on campuses, and Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Network Login for computer and systems use.

Already have a UNMC email address?

If you currently have an @unmc.edu email address it will change to @volunteer.unmc.edu on August 7, 2023.  Changing to @volunteer.unmc.edu will be automatic. We simply recommend that you communicate to your peers and students that your email address will change.

New to the UNMC email system?

On or after August 7, 2023, you will receive an auto-generated email from IAM-noreply@unmc.edu sent to your personal email address on record detailing the next steps for setting up a @volunteer.unmc.edu account. Within the email, you will click on Activate My User Account and, from there, you will be taken to a screen that will guide you through the remaining activation steps. This process should take 5-10 minutes before you can access the systems needed for your Faculty Volunteer role.

New User Instructions

Along with your new email account, new users will need to install DUO Multi-Factor Authentication to access the UNMC applications.

Support

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Patti Marsh. Should you have technical questions after your account is set up, please get in touch with the UNMC Help Desk at 402-559-7700.

Please note, our IT Department requires all Faculty Volunteers to change their network password at least every 90-days for security purposes. Routine password changes help UNMC defend itself from cyber threats and serve to make it harder for malicious actors to steal passwords. Our IT Department encourages you to change your password proactively when it is convenient for you to do so.
