Sharon Hammer
Dr. Hammer spent 14 years in adult outpatient practice with Methodist Health Systems in Omaha prior to joining the UNMC Department of Psychiatry in 2006. Her interest in perinatal psychiatry began during that time while working with obstetricians in the community treating women with anxiety and mood disorders during the reproductive years.

After joining the Department of Psychiatry, she established the UNMC Reproductive Psychiatry Clinic which has evolved into a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians serving women with psychiatric disorders during the perinatal period. The reproductive psychiatry team provides pre-conception counseling, treatment during pregnancy and the postpartum and offers educational opportunities for psychiatry residents in perinatal behavioral health. Dr. Hammer is currently the Director of Reproductive Psychiatry Services at UNMC.

Dr. Hammer is the Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Psychiatry and serves as the Psychiatry Clerkship Director.

Her interests are improving the quality and access of psychiatric care for women during the perinatal period. She is a member of the Marce of North America, Postpartum Support International and serves on the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Maternal Review Board.
