Thomas Magnuson, MD

Dr. Magnuson specializes in geriatric psychiatry and is board certified in both adult and geriatric psychiatry. He has regularly provided psychiatric services via telehealth for nursing home residents throughout Nebraska since 2004. This service has over 60 sites across Nebraska and Iowa where patients are seen. Dr. Magnuson has developed a web site to provide education and training for long-term care workers and administrators: The Long Term Care Mental Health Series.
Dr. Magnuson has received recognition in Best Doctors in America in 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12. He received the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Chancellor's Golden U Award in 2004. Additionally, he was given teaching awards from the Creighton-Nebraska Psychiatry Residents in 2004-05 and again in 2010-11. In 2015 he was awarded APA Irma Bland Award for Excellence in Resident Teaching. He was appointed to the Governor's Nursing Home Advisory Council and has served on the council since 2004. In 2015 he became an honorary Fellow for the APA.
