Our commitment to continuing education

One of the core missions of our department is rural provider training and outreach. We pride ourselves on educating providers to practice specifically in rural settings and critical-access hospitals not just here in Nebraska, but around the country. To that end, we are proud to offer our Continuing Medical Education courses focused on rural provider training in critical care management and ultrasound. We cater our courses specifically to those who are doing the invaluable work at critical-access centers and providing the vital care those communities need. Our courses utilize hands-on experience with cadavers, specialist lecturers, trainers, and simulators to focus on practical, research-driven patient evaluation and treatment in those lower-resource environments.

Courses We Offer

Rural Emergency Medicine Course

The Rural Emergency Medicine (REM) Course is a hands-on educational program designed for physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners to strengthen their skills in managing low-frequency, high-risk emergencies commonly encountered in rural settings. Through expert led lectures, simulation training, and procedural labs, participants gain practical experience in lifesaving interventions and other critical emergency care scenarios for both adult and pediatric patients.

Critical Care Ultrasound Course

The Critical Care Ultrasound Course provides healthcare professionals with hands-on training in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) techniques used to evaluate and manage critically ill patients. Participants learn essential skills such as cardiac assessment, E-FAST, DVT detection, and ultrasound-guided vascular access to support rapid clinical decision-making.
