Bhavana Chhunchha, PhD
Assistant Professor, UNMC Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences
Dr. Chhunchha is a molecular biologist who is interested in basic and translational research. She received her PhD in 2010 from India. She joined the University of Nebraska Medical Center and made several significant contributions in the field of environmental stresses-induced etiopathology of ocular cells/tissues in vitro and in vivo.
Dr. Chhunchha’s major goal is to unveil the molecular mechanism underlying in initiation and progression of age-related pathologies. To this end, her research focuses on identifying the pathogenic molecule(s) and thereby, to develop the pathogenic molecule(s)-based therapeutic agents in preventing or delaying age-related blinding disease, including age-related cataract, glaucoma, corneal disease, and neurological disorders.
