Cheryl Rand has 42 years of experience as a registered nurse at Nebraska Medicine and is board certified in medical-surgical nursing. In her time at Nebraska Medicine, she has specialized in cardiology, telemetry, baromedicine, and trauma. In addition, Cheryl has been on the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit (NBU) team since its inception in 2005. As the clinical operations lead at the NBU, Cheryl oversees the preparation and readiness of the NBU to accept patient(s) with highly infectious diseases. During the COVID-19 outbreak, she was an infection prevention subject matter expert for long term care facilities, and she instructed hospital staff on the proper use of personal air purifying respirators (PAPRs).
