Dr. Allison Ashford

Dr. Ashford is a graduate of the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the UNMC Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program. She also served as the UNMC Internal Medicine Chief Resident following her residency. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

Dr. Ashford is a med-peds hospitalist splitting her clinical time between Nebraska Medicine and Children's Nebraska. She is also the program director of the UNMC Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program. She is active in both categorical residency programs and the advising and mentoring of both students and residents.

Dr. Ashford's career interests include internal medicine/pediatrics, medical education of residents and students, humanism and medicine, and POCUS. Her personal interests include travel, baking (yeast breads!), reading, cooking, running, reality TV, pop culture and spending time with family and friends. Her husband, John, is a lawyer and they have a daughter named Rosie and one cat, Winnie. She loves working with medical students and residents and considers mentorship an important part of training.
