Brian Boer, MD, PhD

Dr. Boer is board certified in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Interventional Pulmonology. He currently serves as the Section Chief of Critical Care Medicine and Medical Director of the medical ICU. He is passionate about caring for critically ill patients and supporting them and their families through difficult times. Dr. Boer enjoys teaching all aspects of critical care including point-of-care ultrasound and bedside procedures.

Outside of the ICU, Dr. Boer devotes his time to the field of Interventional Pulmonology where he has expertise in pleural procedures as well as advanced diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy. He enjoys teaching pulmonary fellows specialized techniques such as robotic bronchoscopy and placement of endobronchial valves and stents.

Dr. Boer is a career mentor. His career interests include advanced diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy, nterventional pulmonary and pleural procedures, POCUS (critical care ultrasound), thoracic malignancies, pulmonary embolism, and helping patients and family understand and accept the dying process, especially in the ICU setting. His personal interests include anything outdoors (fly fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing, camping), soccer, running, working out and anything active, music, traveling with family, craft beer, and bourbon and delicious food.
