Dr. Amy Cannella

Dr. Cannella’s main interests are in clinical rheumatology, education, and ultrasound in Rheumatic Disease (RhUS). She sees patients in the clinic at Nebraska Medicine and the Omaha VA Medical Center, including the utilization of RhUS to diagnose and treat rheumatic disease. She runs the rheumatology fellowship program, which matriculates three fellows each year into the two-year clinical program. She is also involved in resident and medical school education, directing both the resident rheumatology curriculum and the first and second-year musculoskeletal and rheumatic disease blocks. She has developed several novel educational tools for rheumatology, including a video game on gout and an inter-professional pharmacology e-learning module. She has worked nationally with the American College of Rheumatology and is a board member for the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists. She participates in Divisional research, including the VARA and RAIN databanks, and in clinical trials in rheumatoid arthritis and gout.
