Dr. Cannella’s main interests are in clinical rheumatology, education and musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS). She sees patients in clinic at UNMC and the VA, including the utilization of MSUS to diagnose and treat rheumatic disease. She runs the rheumatology fellowship program, which matriculates two fellows each year into the two-year clinical program. She is also involved in resident and medical school education, directing both the resident rheumatology curriculum and the second-year medical student core in rheumatology. She has developed several novel educational tools for rheumatology, including a video game on gout and an inter-professional pharmacology e-learning module. She is a member of the UNMC College of Medicine admissions committee and curriculum innovations workgroup. She works nationally with the American College of Rheumatology and is an Instructor for the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists. She participates in Divisional research, including the VARA and RAIN databanks, and in clinical trials in rheumatoid arthritis and gout. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. |
