Patient Care, Research, and Teaching Focused on Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases
The Division of Rheumatology and Immunology currently includes 14 faculty members actively engaged in patient care, clinical and translational research and teaching. Our clinical providers are interested in the diagnosis and management of diseases that affect the joints, connective tissues diseases, and autoimmune diseases. Areas of expertise include rheumatoid arthritis, gout, myositis, scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus, and the use of ultrasound in rheumatology. The Division hosts a fellowship-training program and leads robust clinical-translational research programs at UNMC and at the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System. The Division hosts a nationally and internationally famous clinical research program for rheumatoid arthritis - the Rheumatology & Arthritis Investigational Network (RAIN) as well as the VA Rheumatoid Arthritis Registry, and FORWARD – The National Databank for Rheumatic Diseases.
