Lauren Loyd

Lauren Loyd is a MSN to PhD student in UNMC’s College of Nursing.


Current credentials and degrees: MSN, RN, NPD-BC, CNE
Program Start Date: August 2021
Anticipated Graduation Date: 2026
Research interest: I am interested in nursing education and ethical issues in healthcare, more specifically moral distress in new graduate nurses.
Plans after graduation: I would like to continue to teach academically and incorporate clinical work to compliment this role.


Why I chose a PhD in nursing:


I am interested in contributing to nursing science and advancing the nursing profession through conducting nursing research.

Research/professional interests:


I am interested in researching nursing ethics education, particularly as it relates to moral distress. I became interested in studying this topic further through work with nursing students in an ethics course that I teach.

What I like about UNMC:


I look forward to the opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration at an academic medical center to ultimately benefit the patients who we serve as nurses.
