Leadership in Medical Education
Dr. Lindsey McAlarnen co-directs the third-year OB-GYN clerkship, ensuring medical students experience a comprehensive, clinically rich rotation in Obstetrics and Gynecology comprising time in the inpatient gynecology and gynecology oncology wards, operating rooms, women’s health clinics, and labor and delivery.
Through curriculum coordination and learner assessment, Dr. McAlarnen helps students achieve core competencies while fostering professional growth and engagement. She is dedicated to mentorship and innovative teaching strategies that promote active learning and clinical excellence.
As director of the OB-GYN Residency robotics curriculum, Dr. McAlarnen has implemented a comprehensive, simulation-based program that increases resident exposure to robotic surgery, enhances technical skills, and ensures early, standardized training. Residents benefit from hands-on simulation, dual-console participation, and structured assessments, resulting in measurable improvements in surgical confidence and proficiency. The program aligns with national standards and receives consistently positive feedback from trainees.
Her educational leadership is recognized by multiple teaching awards, including the 2025 APGO Humanism in Teaching Award, 2024 APGO Excellence in Teaching Award, and the 2023 Dr. Karen Marcdante Bravery in Teaching Award.
