Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility

Our Partner in Fertility and Endocrine Health

UNMC Dept. of OB-GYN partners with Heartland Center for Reproductive Medicine to provide  advanced medical education. The REI physicians provide residents and fourth-year medical students with comprehensive training in reproductive physiology, endocrine disorders, and infertility management. Through hands-on learning, case-based discussions, and exposure to cutting-edge research, they prepare future physicians to excel in both academic and clinical settings.

Educational Mission

The REI physicians are committed to preparing future physicians to understand and manage reproductive health with skill and empathy:

  • Fourth-year medical students gain exposure to infertility evaluation, assisted reproductive technologies, and patient counseling during rotations at Heartland Infertility.
  • Residents develop proficiency in diagnostic strategies, hormonal management, and procedural skills—building a strong foundation for general practice or subspecialty training.

Outcomes and Impact

Learners leave with:

  • Knowledge of infertility workup and treatment options.
  • Skills in managing reproductive endocrine disorders using evidence-based protocols.
  • Confidence in patient-centered communication and shared decision-making.
  • A solid understanding of assisted reproductive technologies and their role in modern care.
