Mission and Vision
The Department of Pediatrics is committed to improving the well-being of children through excellence and innovation in health care, scholarship, education, service and advocacy. The department is made up of 25 divisions and more than 300 faculty and staff. We support learners in various stages of their education and training, including through our residency program and support of 13 fellowship programs, in efforts to cultivate the next generation of pediatricians and child health researchers.
The department partners with Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha and Nebraska Medicine to provide exceptional patient care, immersive learning experiences for our students and exciting research opportunities for a healthier future for the children in our region and beyond.
Faculty and medical trainess have the opportunity to find research opportunities and collaborators through the The Child Health Research Institute (CHRI), an innovative partnership between UNMC and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center. CHRI is a team of dedicated clinicians, investigators and educators, coming together to improve the lives of children through research. The formalization of CHRI allows us to most effectively promote discovery and innovation to improve children’s health in the state of Nebraska and become a global leader in child health research.
