What do you value most in your pediatric cardiology training at UNMC/Children's Nebraska?

  • The volume of patients is just right, high enough to get excellent exposure to all different kinds of pathologies, but also to have enough time to think about the patients we see.
  • Omaha Children’s serves a large catchment area including the entire state of Nebraska plus several nearby states, this means we get to see the bread and butter as well as the most complex of pathologies in Pediatric Cardiology.
  • With the great team of surgeons and cardiologists who specialize in all different fields within Pediatric Cardiology, Omaha Children’s heart center has the capabilities to take care of a wide range of cardiac conditions, we rarely need to refer patients to other centers. This means we get to see patients from the time of their presentation all the way through the entire course of treatment, which provides great learning opportunities.
  • It is a very educational environment in here, that combines great structured curriculum lectures as well as case-centric teaching where people want to make sure that fellows are getting the most out of every clinical encounter.
  • The Cardiology team here is a big happy family who despite the busy service do make spending time at work a very enjoyable and inspiring experience.
