Cardiology

The vibrant culture of the cardiology division is dedicated to the vision, values, and collaborations necessary to achieve optimal results, safety, quality, and exceptional patient and staff experiences in the care for patients with congenital heart disease.
With a dedicated variable acuity Cardiac Care Unit, we can care for all our patients in one location, regardless of the complexity of the disease. Our history is rich in serving the region with outpatient clinics throughout Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa. Engaged in discovery and innovation, our faculty are heavily involved in local, national, and international research, and we participate in numerous national registries such as the IMPACT Registry and the National Pediatric Cardiology Quality Improvement Collaborative. Our program recently spearheaded Nebraska joining Project ADAM, which works with healthcare systems across the nation to promote and support implementation of Heart Safe Schools.
Our faculty work closely with education leaders within UNMC and Children's Hospital & Medical Center to optimize resident and medical school education in pediatric cardiovascular diseases. Our staff are deeply involved in the community as board members for parent and family support organizations, sponsor charity events, volunteer to work residential camps for patients, and participate in educational and clinical mission trips to help people in need around the world including, Africa and Central America.
