PharmD Student Spotlight
Kenadie's Story
A little about me:
I’m originally from Gretna, NE and graduated from Gretna high school in 2018. I went to Wayne State College for undergrad and graduated May of 2022. I will graduate from UNMC in May of 2025. I am engaged to a NE state trooper and am planning a wedding for Oct. 2025. I work as an intern at Consonus pharmacy in Gretna and started as a toter in 2017.
Why did you decide to pursue the College of Pharmacy’s PharmD program?I started working at Consonus Pharmacy in Gretna in high school and decided I wanted to pursue pharmacy as my career. I was accepted into rhop at Wayne and being at UNMC has only reaffirmed that I made the right choice.
What activities/research are you involved in?
- APhA-ASP, former operation immunization chair and member of operation sud
- RPSA
- KE, former president
- AIG (Aging Interprofessional Group), former co-leader
What has been your favorite experience while being a student here?
I have loved learning here in the study rooms, the support from my classmates, under and upperclassman, and the deans office staff. As the president of KE, I was able to make more relationships between peers and the community. It was an amazing experience seeing KE grow by our efforts!
What are your plans after graduation, and have they changed since you began the program?
I could see myself staying at Consonus Pharmacy as I like the work I do there, but I have tried to not limit myself to what I’ve always known about pharmacy. I am exploring the option of residency, but I am not sold I will need one if I don’t pursue a hospital orientated job. Still undecided as of July 2024!
What advice would you give to a student considering attending the UNMC College of Pharmacy?
Keep your mind open to the new experiences and potential friendships. Don’t be afraid to get involved, but make sure you know how to say ‘no’ if you feel yourself getting over extended. The four years fly by and you will learn so much about pharmacy and yourself!
