Kajree Gupta, MBBS, MS

Dr. Kajree Gupta

Dr. Kajree Gupta is the current Fellow in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Children’s Nebraska and UNMC for the academic year 2025–2026.

Dr. Gupta completed her medical education at Seth G.S. Medical College and King Edward Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, and earned her Master of Surgery (MS) in Ophthalmology from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. She went on to serve as a Senior Resident at PGIMER, gaining extensive experience in glaucoma, pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, and neuro-ophthalmology.

Her clinical expertise includes the management of complex pediatric and neuro-ophthalmic cases, as well as a high volume of cataract, strabismus, and glaucoma surgeries. Her academic contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and presentations at national and international conferences—including the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and the European Society of Retina Specialists. Her research interests span pediatric cataract, childhood myopia, congenital glaucoma, and multimodal imaging in uveitis and trauma.

At UNMC, Dr. Gupta is training under the mentorship of Dr. Paul Rychwalski (Fellowship Director and Chief of Ophthalmology), along with a multidisciplinary pediatric ophthalmology team including Dr. Samiksha Jain, Dr. Richard Legge, and Dr. Ahmad Halawa.

In her free time, Dr. Gupta enjoys jogging, playing badminton and table tennis.

Career aspirations?
To become a compassionate and skilled pediatric ophthalmologist, with continued involvement in teaching and academic research.

What was your first job?
Senior Resident in Ophthalmology at PGIMER, Chandigarh.

Favorite things to do in Omaha/Nebraska?
Exploring nature, discovering new restaurants, and finding hidden gems in the city.

Fun fact about you?
I’ve been a badminton champion at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels—and never turn down a friendly match!
