Ophthalmic Education

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences of the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is committed to ophthalmic education and research. Our accredited residency program and fellowships are offered in conjunction with the Nebraska Medical Center and the Omaha Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Applications for the University of Nebraska Medical Center's three-year residency training program in ophthalmology are welcomed during the summer through the Ophthalmology Matching Program. Fellowships in Glaucoma and Retina are also available through the Ophthalmology Fellowship Match, and applications for fellowships must be submitted by September in order to be considered.

During the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, faculty members, residents, fellows, medical students and private ophthalmologists in the community participate in Grand Rounds to study interesting medical cases and to consult with other eye physicians on unusual patient cases.
