Sara Hoffschneider, MD
House Officer III
Name:
Sara Hoffschneider
What interested you most in UNMC?:
I enjoyed that UNMC gave me the opportunity to take care of very complex patients at an academic center, practice more traditional hospital medicine at our community hospital in Bellevue, and have time to experience working in rural Nebraska for several months during residency. I feel like I had the chance for such a well rounded experience at UNMC and this makes me feel prepared for my future job in rural Nebraska.
What was your first job?
My first job was working on my parent's ranch as a kid doing a variety of jobs in agriculture.
What is the furthest you've traveled from Omaha?:
The farthest I have traveled was to Costa Rica on a mission trip in college, but during residency I have had the chance to visit family throughout the US.
Career aspirations:
I am planning to practice full scope family medicine with obstetrics in rural Nebraska when I graduate.
If you couldn't work in medicine, what would you do?:
I would be working in agriculture, possibly as a vet.
If you only had one day in Nebraska, what would you do?:
Drive across the state to see the difference in landscape and culture across the state.
Most fond residency experience or memory up to this point?:
All of the heart to heart conversations I have had with my co-residents while we are on inpatient or OB.
