Megan Hunke-Lomax, MD
House Officer II
Name:
Megan Hunke-Lomax
What interested you most in UNMC?:
I am a small-town Nebraska girl, so training in Nebraska to return to rural Nebraska to practice was my goal. UNMC is a great program that we are lucky to have in our state.
What was your first job?
I worked at a family-owned diner/fast food restaurant in my hometown.
What is the furthest you've traveled from Omaha?:
Cusco, Peru
Career aspirations:
My career aspirations include being a family medicine physician who focuses on women's health, obstetrical care, and pediatric care.
If you couldn't work in medicine, what would you do?:
I would help my husband on the farm and also have a greenhouse where I grow produce and flowers in addition to having chickens and honey bees. Then I'd sell my products (flowers, fruits/vegetables, honey, eggs) at local farmer markets. PS I do plan on doing this in the future.
If you only had one day in Nebraska, what would you do?:
I would go to the Henry Doorly Zoo and Lauritzen Gardens. A lot of walking, but I love exploring and observing at both places.
Most fond residency experience or memory up to this point?:
The bonds you form with your co-residents as you struggle and grow together, especially in your intern year.
