Sarah Szybist, DO
House Officer III
Name:
Sarah Szybist
What interested you most in UNMC?:
I chose UNMC for the wide spectrum of learning environments we get to train in for patient care (academic, community, and rural) as well as the ample sports medicine opportunities. This program also felt like home when I rotated and interviewed at the program.
What was your first job?
Undergraduate athletic training assistant
What is the furthest you've traveled from Omaha?:
I was born in Japan! I also lived in Europe for seven years growing up.
Career aspirations:
Primary care and operational sports medicine (accepted for fellowship after graduation!)
If you couldn't work in medicine, what would you do?:
Book store owner or meteorologist
If you only had one day in Nebraska, what would you do?:
Eat breakfast at Lola's, spend time at the zoo, walk around Old Market, and finish with ice cream at Coneflower
Most fond residency experience or memory up to this point?:
I had the opportunity to rotate at the Special Operations Medical Clinic at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. This was an awesome experience to see Air Force Operational Sports Medicine in action and learn more about dive medicine.
