Dr. Mudgapalli brings an interdisciplinary background in both basic science research and Information Technology, significantly enhancing the UNMC Research Information Technology domain. Before joining UNMC as the Director of the Research IT Office (RITO) in 2013, he accumulated 14 years of corporate IT experience.
Dr. Mudgapalli founded the UNMC Research IT Office from the ground up, establishing it as a core facility under the Vice Chancellor for Research. The RITO core provides specialized technology solutions to the UNMC research community, including academic and clinical sectors. Key services offered by RITO include data management (on-premise and Box cloud storage), database development and deployment, IT infrastructure support, web application development, vendor application deployment, and software offerings such as REDCap, Biorender, MATLAB, EndNote, and eLab. Additionally, RITO acts as a liaison between IT and researchers for new software, hardware, and instrumentation assessments and supports tools on AWS and Microsoft Azure platforms.

Dr. Mudgapalli is a co-I in several grants focused on technology utilization in research studies. He is focused on aligning enterprise technology with research projects. Dr. Mudgapalli frequently provides technology support letters to NIH grants that are being submitted by the UNMC researchers.
