Lee Williames is an Associate Professor in the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and Inaugural Director of the Office for the Advancement of Military Medicine.
Lee has been working to advance the capabilities of military medicine for over 30 years, as an Air Force physician, leading medical teams in Europe, Asia, Africa, Central America, and the Arctic. Board certified in general and developmental behavioral pediatrics, Lee has served as the head of several Educational and Developmental Intervention Services clinics, multi-disciplinary teams providing diagnostic and treatment services to children attached to military bases and embassies around the globe, as the Chief of Medical Staff at hospitals stateside and overseas, and he has Commanded the Air Force’s largest hospitals in the European and Pacific theaters. As the Alaska Command, Air Force Global Strike, and finally U.S. Strategic Command Surgeon he has been a senior leader in the Military Health System developing plans, policy, and managing medical force deployments, pandemic, and disaster responses collaborating across Services, federal, civilian, and international partners. Lee has USAF special experience identifiers for teaching, arctic leadership, and as a certified physician executive with awards for teaching, research, and leadership at multiple levels.
