Capt Christine Ramsey
USAF Fellow
Capt. Christine E. Ramsey is an Education with Industry student enrolled in the Health Plans Management Fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center embedded with the Global Center for Health Security. Here she is exposed to civilian practices in delivering high quality, accessible, and cost-effective health care services at all levels of the organization. Through this program, she will have the opportunity to acquire and refine important managerial competencies, including measuring/assessing clinical business activities with an emphasis on improving clinical product line performance. In addition, she will be exposed to a unique opportunity to learn and understand the necessary knowledge and skills healthcare workers must possess to provide effective care for patients infected with highly communicable and highly virulent pathogens while protecting themselves and their families, their colleagues, and the public from the spread of infection. The USAF School of Aerospace Medicine has integrated the first Center for Sustainment of Trauma and Readiness Skills (C-STARS) training platform, focused on the Principles of Biocontainment Care, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center / Nebraska Medicine (UNMC / NM). UNMC / NM is home to the Global Center for Health Security, a unique platform for preparedness, awareness, recognition and response for public health and healthcare emergencies.
Throughout her career, her health management expertise has filled a myriad of roles at the squadron, group and wing levels serving as a leader in positions such as: TRICARE Operations and Patient Administration Flight Commander, the Group Practice Manager, Medical Readiness Flight Commander, the Medical Emergency Manager, and Medical Logistics Flight Commander as well as the 31 Fighter Wing Executive Officer at Aviano Air Base.
Capt. Christine Ramsey also deployed as the Joint Special Operations Air Component Africa Surgeon General. In this role she led medical operations for 693 joint personnel, she managed Special Operation Forces Medical teams as well as a Critical Care Air Transport Teams, increasing their capabilities across Africa. She worked as a medical planner and worked all CASEVACs covering the 4.3M square miles.
