Maureen Choman , MD

Geriatric Medicine Fellow

Dr. Maureen Choman

What led you to medicine?
I love the biological sciences and medicine allows one to blend the biological sciences with the purpose of caring for others. This blend of science and purpose is both intellectually fulfilling and personally gratifying as we must think critically to best care for our patients.

What led you to geriatrics?
I have always been interested in the physiology of aging and I found myself drawn towards the geriatric population during my clinical training in medical school. I enjoy how geriatrics utilizes the biopsychosocial model to focus on the care of the whole person in an effort to help patients age gracefully.

If you were not a healthcare provider, what other profession would you see yourself in?
USPS mail carrier.

What are your interests outside of work?
Hiking, working out, fly fishing, reading memoirs/biographies and following college basketball.
