Jonathan Ryder

Dr. Ryder is an assistant professor in the UNMC Division of Infectious Diseases. He completed his medical school at UNMC, internal medicine residency training at Indiana University, and then returned to UNMC for infectious diseases fellowship training. Additionally, he completed an additional year of antimicrobial stewardship fellowship at UNMC. He is board certified in infectious diseases. He is part of the community and general infectious diseases services and sees a variety of general infectious diseases issues in his clinic, including travel medicine and orthopedic infections.

Dr. Ryder has academic interests in antimicrobial and diagnostic stewardship, infection control and digital medical education. He mentors medical students, residents, and fellows in several research projects within these areas. Specific research areas include blood culture stewardship, improving management of infective endocarditis and skin and soft tissue infections, and developing antimicrobial stewardship programs in critical access hospitals. He is a co-founder of the Infectious Diseases Digital Institute, an online curriculum for improving use of digital educational resources. Additionally, he is a co-director of the Blood, Defenses, and Invaders block for first-year medical students. He serves on several local, regional, and national committees.
