About MSAP
The Midwest Social and Administrative Pharmacy Conference has a proud history dating back to its inaugural meeting in 1985. Originally known as the Midwest Pharmacy Administration Conference, the first event was organized and hosted by faculty at Purdue University. This gathering occurred at a pivotal moment when pharmacy administration was emerging and evolving as a defined academic discipline.
Pharmacy schools and graduate programs across the Midwest played a central role in shaping the field. Purdue University and the University of Wisconsin were among the earliest institutions to establish graduate programs in pharmacy administration. Influential figures such as Bob Evanson and Bob Hammel, affiliated with these programs, trained numerous graduate students who later advanced the discipline across academia and industry.
The inaugural 1985 conference served as a homecoming for many alumni of these formative programs, fostering community, collaboration, and shared purpose—traditions that continue today.
2026: A First for Nebraska
The 2026 conference marks the first time the event will be hosted in Nebraska. Omaha is home to two pharmacy programs, and UNMC and Creighton University are proud to come together as co-hosts of this year's conference.
