Kimberly Helseth, MD

Dr. Helseth is an assistant professor of surgical oncology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

She grew up in Wilmette, IL on the north side of Chicago, raised in a medical family with a mother practicing obstetrics. She graduated with honors in Classical Studies and Anthropology from Northwestern University. She then completed medical school at University of Illinois, followed by general surgery residency at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital. After completing breast surgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson at Cooper University, Dr. Helseth joined the Division of Surgical Oncology in the Department of Surgery at UNMC.

She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and a member of the American Society for Breast Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology.

Dr. Helseth’s main clinical interest is breast surgical oncology, surgical management of benign breast disease, and the application of oncoplastic surgical techniques.

Dr. Helseth’s research interests include quality outcomes following breast cancer surgeries as well as advancing minimally invasive breast cancer surgery  and oncoplastic techniques
