Jessica B. Shank, MD, FACS

Dr. Shank specializes in the surgical management of benign and malignant diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands and cervical lymph nodes. Her expertise includes thyroid surgery for nodules, goiters, Graves’ disease, thyroid cancer, minimally invasive parathyroidectomy, surgery for persistent or recurrent hyperparathyroidism and laparoscopic adrenalectomy. She trained in scarless approaches including remote access thyroid surgery and radiofrequency ablation of thyroid nodules.

She remains active in medical student and resident education in her position as team education lead within surgical oncology. She is associate medical director of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center patient care clinic and infusion center and is a Bellevue Medical executive committee member.

She maintains several committee positions in national societies including the American Thyroid Association and the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons. She serves as an associate editor for the Indian Journal of Surgical Oncology and ACS Case Reviewer in Surgery.

As an active clinician-scientist, Dr. Shank’s research focuses on studying endocrine surgical outcomes.

Research Interests
Dr. Shank’s research focuses on studying endocrine surgical outcomes, particularly the psychological impact of endocrine disease. Her interests include clinical outcomes research in thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal disease as it pertains to certain demographic characteristics, geographic and/or racial disparities, and quality of life.
