Vascular Surgery

The UNMC Division of Vascular Surgery faculty have achieved both national and international recognition as leaders in vascular biologic research, vascular device research, clinical innovation and surgical education.

Our program works closely with other members of Nebraska Medicine’s heart and vascular program and the neurovascular program. The Division of Vascular Surgery is consistently one of the highest National Institutes of Health research funded vascular surgery groups in the United States. All members of the division are actively involved in life changing vascular research while training future vascular surgeons through our fellowship programs.

Our faculty provide cutting edge vascular care in a patient-focused, compassionate manner for a full range of vascular disorders including peripheral arterial disease, aneurysms, carotid artery disease, hemodialysis access, superficial and deep venous disorders and thoracic outlet syndrome. The division also treats less common disorders including complex thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms, arterial graft infections, arterial blockages to the kidneys or intestines, aneurysms of the arms, legs or viscera and traumatic vascular injuries.

G. Matthew Longo, MD, Division Chief

Dr. Longo leads a division of vascular surgeons who perform some of the most complex operations in the region and serve as a regional and national referral center.
