Application Process
The surgical critical care fellowship at UNMC is a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship. Applicants who have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited residency program in general surgery and are interested in surgical critical care are encouraged to apply. We currently have two positions available.
Our year-long program comprises rotations in the surgical intensive care unit, cardiovascular intensive care unit and neurointensive unit. Additional opportunities include, but are not limited to: ultrasound, research, quality improvement, trauma systems training, rural trauma experiences, teaching and simulation
How to apply
We will begin accepting applications on March 2, 2026 for the 2027-2028 academic year.
Submit an application through Surgical critical care and Acute care surgery Fellowship Application Service or email the following items to our program coordinator, Jessica Bruno:
- Personal statement
- Current curriculum vitae
- USMLE scores
- ABSITE scores
- 2 letters of recommendation
Upon review of your application, you will be contacted by the program coordinator to schedule an interview. The final applications will be evaluated by the acute care surgery faculty and ranked and submitted to the National Resident Matching Program.
