Frequently Asked Questions

Fellows will earn a salary of $65,000 per year. This is a fully benefited position, meaning APPs will be eligible for Nebraska Medicine’s total rewards program, which includes:

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off.
  • Retirement plans
  • Life, accident and disability insurance.
APP fellows may be offered employment on the Nebraska Medicine team following completion of the program, pending position availability. In the case that an APP fellow does remain employed on the team, the APP’s salary will be adjusted to reflect their experience as a fellow. APP fellows are not required to stay on the Nebraska Medicine team, and we support any new employment ventures for which our  APP fellows undoubtedly will be well prepared.
Each APP fellow will have regular meetings with program leaders. Fellows are given milestones throughout the program, with regular feedback and assessments from preceptors and attending physicians.
Fellows will average a minimum of 40-50 hours per week. They will rotate through day, night and weekend shifts. The rotation between days and nights allows fellows to maximize their educational opportunities in didactics, admissions, rounding and procedures.
Certified family nurse practitioners are eligible to apply for our fellowship program. If the family nurse practitioner stays on the team after completing the APP fellowship program, Nebraska Medicine will require an acute care certification within three years.

Cohort groups will begin the program semi-annually in March and August with applications to open 6 months prior to program start. Submit your application.
