The iEXCEL program improves human performance and effectiveness in health care through the adoption of high-fidelity simulation, interprofessional collaboration and experiential learning technologies.
Davis Global Center
The Dr. Edwin G. & Dorothy Balbach Davis Global Center is a highly advanced clinical simulation facility purposefully designed to foster the practice of patient care in highly-functioning and effective interprofessional teams. The 192,000 sq.ft. center is made up of five distinct levels that work together to create a safe and innovative learning environment.

UNMC’s iEXCEL program rated as exceptional
Becker’s Healthcare recently recognized 93 hospitals and health systems with exceptional simulation and education programs, including UNMC’s iEXCEL program. iEXCEL supports UNMC students and faculty, as well as Nebraska Medicine health care professionals, as they sharpen skills specific to their level of training and disciplines.
Elementary students explore ‘Mini Med School’ at UNMC
Fourth-grade students from Holy Name Elementary School entered the Davis Global Center on a field trip earlier this year, the display rotating human organs, heart, lungs and more in the atrium’s three-story screen prompted a chorus of “ooohs” and “aaahs” from the youngsters.
iEXCEL honors innovators advancing simulation technology
UNMC’s iEXCEL program honored its annual iEXCEL Innovation Award winners, recognizing faculty and health care professionals who used simulation technology and the Davis Global Center’s capabilities to create new ideas for teaching, research and scholarship.
