Innovation Awards

iEXCEL awards honor excellence in clinical simulation

UNMC’s iEXCEL program presented its fourth annual iEXCEL Innovation Awards at a ceremony March 12 at the Davis Global Center. The awards recognize excellence in academics and teaching through iEXCEL collaborations, clinical simulation, interprofessional education and more.

Retirees visit UNMC to tour cancer center, Davis Global Center

A group of 15 retirees, including UNMC Board of Counselor member Peg Gilbert, came to UNMC in late January to visit two of the university’s newest facilities. The group toured the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and Chihuly Sanctuary, then visited the Davis Global Center, where they toured the National Training, Simulation and Quarantine Unit and the iEXCEL simulation learning program.

Educational Excellence

Clinical perfusion simulation program recognized among best

The UNMC College of Allied Health Professions’ clinical perfusion program has established UNMC’s Clinical Perfusion Training and Simulation Program. It is one of just 11 such programs nationwide recognized as a high-fidelity simulation center by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.

Nothing can prepare an individual for the real thing like the real thing. Visual simulation, however, has long been acknowledged for the important role it plays in potentially high-risk industries like transportation, aerospace and power.

UNMC joins with Girls Inc. to showcase radiology field

More than a dozen teenagers from Girls Inc. recently took part in a “Rad Girls” experiential opportunity through iEXCEL at the Davis Global Center. The event was sponsored and spearheaded by the UNMC College of Medicine’s Radiology Interest Group.
