Our experts practice in over 50 pediatric specialty clinics, providing care for many children with complex medical needs. Department of Anesthesiology faculty, residents and fellows are an integrated part of patient care.

Children’s Nebraska is a 225-bed free-standing hospital. From across a five-state region and beyond, more than 94,000 children seek the experience and expertise offered annually.

The state-of-the-art Hubbard Center for Children opened in 2021. This is home to the state’s only Level II Pediatric Trauma Center and a busy emergency department.

Children’s Intensive Care Units provide the most advanced levels of neonatal and pediatric care available, including a highly skilled critical care ground, rotor and fixed wing transport team and a 28-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit staffed 24 hours a day with pediatric intensive care physicians.

Nebraska’s only Level IV regional Newborn Intensive Care Unit contains 46 beds and a new Fetal Care Center containing a mother/baby surgical delivery suite for high-risk newborns requiring surgical intervention or support after birth.

Our pediatric cardiac program is nationally recognized and provides comprehensive surgical and medical care for children with congenital heart disease, including open heart surgery, heart transplantation, and interventional and diagnostic cardiac catheterization. The first-in-the-region 50-bed Cardiac Care Unit is a floor dedicated to caring for the full spectrum of pediatric heart patients and offers advanced life support therapies, including ECMO and VAD. Children's is also recognized nationally for its Orthopedics care and is an international referral center for children with Osteogenesis Imperfecta.

The anesthesiology department at Children's is an integrated part of patient care. More than 14,000 surgical cases are performed in 17 locations throughout the hospital including a busy hybrid cardiac catheterization lab and a new radiology suite. The surgical space in the Hubbard Center is home to seven new operating rooms including an intraoperative MRI.

In addition, Children's has a 10,000-square-foot pediatric ambulatory surgery center with four operating rooms, providing high-quality surgical care for children needing outpatient surgery.

The acute pain team specializes in neonatal spinal anesthesia and regional blocks in pediatric patients. A pediatric anesthesiology-led comprehensive chronic pain clinic provides multi-disciplinary care to children with complex medical needs.
